Make AI defer to your workpapers, not its guess

Lesson 5 of 7 · Compliance & safe AI use

1 · Learn the move · Verified-data override

The model will fill a gap with a plausible figure - a phase-out threshold, a mileage rate, a filing deadline - and it will do it in a confident sentence. The fix is a standing rule: your workpapers and the documents you supplied outrank anything it remembers, and anything it has not been given is written as [NEEDS: input]. In this practice, a guessed threshold is a penalty notice next spring.

Standing rule for this session: the figures and dates in the files I give you outrank anything you remember. If a figure or a date is not in my files, write [NEEDS: input] and name the document it would come from. Never fill it.

2 · Your turn. You write the prompt

The draft estimate letter for Taxpayer A states a percentage and a due date. Neither came from you. Write the rule that stops it, and re-run the letter.

Write the prompt for this scenario as given, or swap in a real one from your own work. The score works the same either way.

Remember: the AI sees only your prompt, not this page. If the situation isn't in your prompt, it doesn't exist.

Optional. These shape the output when you run your prompt below, not your score.
