Let Claude read your inbox and calendar
Lesson 3 of 3 · Claude & Cowork mastery
1 · Learn the move · Context + audience
Connected tools - Gmail, Calendar, Drive - let the model read a client's email thread and your week, and draft against both. The gate is the firm's, not the tool's: the connection goes into an account the firm has approved for client information, and a thread that carries return information is a disclosure the moment the tool reads it. Draft, never send; the CPA reviews every outbound word.
Read the thread from [client code] and my calendar for this week. Draft a reply that answers their question, proposes two meeting times I actually have, and lists what I still need from them. Draft only.
2 · Your turn. You write the prompt
Taxpayer A has emailed three times about the notice and you have not had ten minutes to reply. The thread, your calendar and the document-request list are all in connected tools. Get a draft you can fix in two minutes - without sending anything.
Write the prompt for this scenario as given, or swap in a real one from your own work. The score works the same either way.
Remember: the AI sees only your prompt, not this page. If the situation isn't in your prompt, it doesn't exist.
Optional. These shape the output when you run your prompt below, not your score.
