Build your firm's research master prompt
Lesson 3 of 7 · Compliance & safe AI use
1 · Learn the move · Flipped interaction
Most practitioners re-explain the same rules every session: who the client is (a letter, never a name), which authorities count, how a figure gets sourced, what the reviewer wants. A master prompt says it once and gets reused. The compliance block is part of it: nothing identifiable goes in, every authority VERIFY, no figure from memory.
Draft my master prompt for research memos at [firm]. Sections: ROLE, PRACTICE CONTEXT, VOICE, CLIENT-DATA RULE, AUTHORITY RULE, FIGURE RULE, OUTPUT FORMAT. Fill from these notes: [notes]
2 · Your turn. You write the prompt
You have explained the firm's memo conventions to the model four times this month, and twice it still wrote 'the taxpayer, Mrs. Harlow' and cited a revenue ruling that does not exist. Write the master prompt that carries the rules so you stop repeating them.
Write the prompt for this scenario as given, or swap in a real one from your own work. The score works the same either way.
Remember: the AI sees only your prompt, not this page. If the situation isn't in your prompt, it doesn't exist.
Optional. These shape the output when you run your prompt below, not your score.
