Map a repeatable task into a workflow

Lesson 1 of 5 · Workflows & automation

1 · Learn the move · RTO. Role · Task · Output

Before you automate the monthly close, map it: every step, its input, its output, who checks it, and where a human must stay. The map is the spec; the automation is the easy part. For a close, the map shows which steps are mechanical (pull the export, run the exceptions) and which are judgment (the accrual the owner always questions).

Map my [task] as a workflow: steps in order, input and output of each, which are mechanical and which need a person, and where the output goes next. Table, then a one-line summary of where it most often breaks.

2 · Your turn. You write the prompt

Pruitt Dental's close takes you a day and a half every month and you could not say exactly why. Map it, step by step, and find the two steps that eat the time.

Write the prompt for this scenario as given, or swap in a real one from your own work. The score works the same either way.

Remember: the AI sees only your prompt, not this page. If the situation isn't in your prompt, it doesn't exist.

Optional. These shape the output when you run your prompt below, not your score.
