Which layer are you on
Build-along · ~8 min at your own keyboard
There are three layers to working with AI. In the first you chat and paste, and you carry everything from one chat to the next. In the second you write down what you keep retyping, as a saved skill or a project instruction, so the model picks it up on its own. In the third the AI works inside a folder of your files, reads a map, and one short sentence can start a whole job. Each layer builds on the one before. Most people stay in the first and pay for it every week. You do not need the third layer for everything. You need to know which layer a task is on.
Your starter: Three layer map
TemplateMake it yours: Replace every bracket with a real thing you did with AI in the last two weeks. Move the habits to the layer they truly sit on.
Layer 1, chat (I paste the context in every time) - [habit] - [habit] Layer 2, skill (I saved the instructions and reuse them) - [habit] Layer 3, folder (the AI reads my own files) - [habit, or none yet] The task I will move up: [task] From layer [1 or 2] to layer [2 or 3] because [one sentence]
The coach checks that what you paste back is your own work. The starter pasted back unchanged won't pass.
